Have you ever felt that fear creeping in when you think about your long-term financial future? I know I have, and it’s not uncommon. Vision Capital Wealth Advisor Gina Jacobson receives a common question when assisting women with their financial portfolios. "Am I going to be okay?" It's a question that weighs heavily, especially when thinking about things like retirement, taking care of our families, and not wanting to be a burden on our children as we age.
On this episode of WAIT. HOLD UP... WHAT?, we sat down with Gina to tackle some tough yet important topics. We talked about how women are often less likely to invest or take on financial risks compared to men, but here's the good news: we can change that.
Women who feel comfortable with investing are more likely to build diversified portfolios that work for them. It’s not about putting all your eggs in one basket but planting seeds in different areas that will grow over time. As women, we have the power to create financial independence, and it’s time we embraced that.
One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation was the idea of putting on your oxygen mask first. Mothers are not unfamiliar with deprioritizing themselves or feeling guilty for trying to take care of themselves over their children. Long term securing your finances will pay off for you and your loved ones long term. Whether it’s building your net (your wealth) or your nest (your home and security), financial planning is a tool that helps you navigate the next 30-40 years.
The longer we wait to take charge of our financial future, the more risks we face. But it’s never too late to start planning, and the steps we take today can lead to more confidence tomorrow. So, I encourage you to take action today. Start thinking about your financial future. You’ve got this. The time to secure your financial well-being is now!
