I’ve been thinking a lot about the choices I make with my money — especially when it comes to where I shop and who I support. The truth is, I don’t want to spend a single dollar with a brand or organization that doesn’t have my best interest at heart. But honestly? That’s a lot harder than it sounds.

We live in a world where companies own everything, where branding hides the truth, and where the products we’re told we “need” are marketed to insecurities that were never ours to begin with. It’s exhausting to try and untangle it all. But I try — because I believe that spending money is one of the loudest forms of protest we have.

Women — we are a collective force. If we could find a way to unify around our values, especially with our wallets, we could create a wave. We can post, shout, and protest, but if we turn around and support the very brands working against us, we’re telling them we don’t value our rights enough to act on them.

I know not everyone feels wealthy. But if your household makes more than $40,000 a year, you’re in the global wealth bracket. That fact shocked me — and reminded me that I have more power than I think. So I’m doing what I can. Even if it’s not perfect, I want my money to reflect my values.

Because that, to me, is a real revolution.

OUR GUEST

Gina Jacobson is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER at Vision Capital Management, a women-founded wealth management firm in Portland, OR. She’s passionate about helping women achieve financial sovereignty—gaining control over their money and creating the freedom to make choices that align with their lives. She believes money is deeply emotional, and with women set to hold more wealth than ever, it’s crucial to have advisors who understand and advocate for their experiences. Gina is proud of her people-first approach to wealth management, where listening comes first. She believes true financial guidance starts with understanding her clients’ experiences, goals, and emotions—because money isn’t just numbers, it’s personal.

Gina is passionate about creating more space for women in wealth management, which is still a male-dominated industry, where less than 25% of CFPs are women. She recognizes that she has access to opportunities that women before her never had, and she honors that by taking up space in finance, athletics, and art—fields that weren’t originally designed with women in mind. She’s a competitive powerlifter who deadlifts over 300 pounds and an amateur DJ, playing uplifting and empowering women-focused music.
