In this episode of WAIT. HOLD UP… WHAT?, I share a shocking experience I had with a co-worker who showed up on Halloween dressed as Aunt Jemima, complete with blackface. To make things even more complicated, this person was also a person of color. It was a moment that really opened my eyes to the importance of having solid Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies in the workplace — ones that directly address microaggressions and harmful behavior.
We speak with Pamela Wilson and dive into why it’s so crucial for companies to not only have clear DEI and harassment policies in place but also to create spaces where employees can report incidents safely and feel heard. It’s not just about preventing blatant acts of racism or discrimination — it’s about building an environment where everyone can feel respected and included, no matter their background.
This episode is a deep dive into the challenges many workplaces face when it comes to inclusivity, and how we can all do better. It’s time we make sure our workplaces are truly safe and welcoming for everyone, and I hope this conversation sparks some important change. Tune in, and let’s talk about how we can all contribute to a better, more inclusive work environment
